Our fermentation and conditioning cellar has the capacity to store 350,000 litres of beer and our bottling line can fill 5,000 bottles in one hour.

NATURAL AND PURE BEER
The idea about brewing beer the traditional way, using only the best natural ingredients, has driven us since 1994. From day one, Medvedgrad Brewery has changed the perception of beer on our market and created a solid foundation for the present-day craft brewers.
THE BEST THAT BAVARIA AND THE CZECH REPUBLIC HAVE TO OFFER
Although we love all beer styles, Bavarian and Czech lagers are our specialty. They are the product of a longstanding collaboration with the Czech Beer Institute and our brewers were taught by their best master brewers.
The family that runs Pivovara Medvedgrad had already had four sons by the time its operation began in 1994, so the first idea was to name the brewery Četiri dečka (“Four Jacks”) and in that case the first beers would have been named Tref, Herc, Karo, and Pik (Club, Heart, Diamond, and Spade). Eventually, the brewery’s name was picked according to an old Bavarian tradition of taking the name of the closest medieval fortified town, which in Zagreb’s case is Medvedgrad, overlooking the city from the Medvednica mountain.
Today, the ”four jacks” are the second generation of the family that runs Pivovara Medvedgrad.
A SELF-BUILT PROJECT
Since day one, we have been making our own equipment for brewing beer with the help of our engineers, to be attuned to the needs and desires of our brewers as much as possible.
Our dream came true when we opened a new, modern, and bigger brewery in 2019. Inspiring others to strive for improvement, whatever their line of business may be, is our vision.
MORE THAN PREMIUM BEER
To us, beer is a medium for helping, telling stories, and arousing emotion. Our labels bring back to life legends that have perhaps been forgotten. For decades, our pubs have been a place where friendships and memories are forged. We want our employees to have the benefit of a positive working environment because our success depends on them.
A state-of-the-art laboratory is also part of our brewery. Every day, physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses are done to check the quality of the beer we brew.
LAGER IS OUR SPECIALTY
We consider pale lager the greatest classic among beers and the hop their most magical ingredient. However, we don’t let that prevent us from brewing all the other beer styles. We believe that every person’s favourite beer hides in their diversity!
Love and passion are the most important ingredients in our fine, drinkable beers without preservatives and surrogates. The raw ingredients that we use for brewing beer are exclusively of natural origin and top quality. We want to make as many people as possible fall in love with a good beer.
Our year-round offer of beers includes Zlatni Medvjed, Grička Vještica, Crna Kraljica, Dva Klasa, Baltazar, and Fakin IPA. Apart from these beers that are always available, there are seven seasonal options, about another 15 beers that we brew for charitable purposes or in collaboration, as well as our Fantom series.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
At the beginning of our beer-brewing story, we made a firm decision to always strive for a higher level of quality in our beers and that beer will always come first for us.
The beer cycle begins with raw ingredients and ends with beer being served in a glass. We do our best to constantly improve this cycle, to advance in every step of the way by perfecting every beer’s recipe, by enhancing every stage of production, and by investing all our disposable resources into the most advanced equipment for testing the quality of beer.
We want our beers to have the same premium quality always and everywhere, which makes us a safe choice for beer lovers.
